Baptism

Baptism at Saint Teresa of Avila

“Unless one is reborn of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (Jn3:5).

Due to the rejection of life in God by Adam and Eve, we are born without a share in God’s divine life.

“Baptism saves you now” (1 Pt 3:21).

In baptism we die with Christ to sin and with Him rise to newness of life in the Holy Spirit (Rm 6:3-4) as a child of God.

Normally this sacrament is received soon after birth, as it replaces circumcision of the Old Law (Col 2:11-12) which among the people of Israel is still administered when the child is 8 days old.

At St. Teresa of Avila church baptisms are the Second Saturday of the month in English and the Third Saturday of the month in Spanish in mornings at 10:30 am. To register for baptism a copy of the child’s birth certificate is needed.
